Here’s my take on the most important issues of our time…
America
America is a gift from God to the world. It is the true expression of what God intends for his creation since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden. It is a place where individuals have the free-will to choose to follow their beliefs and values. It is the last, best hope of the world, despite its flows and internal evils that plague it.
Government
The role of Government is to ensure protections of our laws as defined by the Constitution. It should be confined to those principles and no more.. It is to the people to use their God given freedoms to succeed. Over involvement in people’s lives lead to dependency and a loss of basic freedoms. As Thoreau said “That government is best which governs least” As Ronald Reagan said “The scariest words in the English language are… I’m from the Government and I’m here to help”
Religion
First, Let’s clarify… the Constitution does not set forth the separation of Church & State. It in fact sets forth the free expression of religion. People should be free to worship in any way they choose, provided it’s legal and does not impede the free religious expression of others. Let us also be clear… “Not being offended” is not a right and does not have Constitutional protection
Taxes
The people, not Government, are the best decision-maker with the money they earn. Low taxes encourage growth in business, individual prosperity, and government revenues. Paying taxes in a responsibility of the citizenry… However, the tax bill should only be equal to Government’s basic Constitutional roles, no more… To those who want to pay more taxes I would echo what the President said in his final State of the Union Address… “Others have said they would personally be happy to pay higher taxes. I welcome their enthusiasm. I’m pleased to report that the IRS accepts both checks and money orders.”
The Radical-Islamic War on the West
The war is real. The motives of our enemies focus on our (and all other non-Islamic cultures) absolute destruction. These radicals and their terrorist minions, must be crushed. The Reconstruction of Iraq and the suppression of terrorist insurgence into that country is a key front in this war…
Immigration
Legal immigration helped build this country. Illegal immigration disregards American laws, and therefore its sovereignty. These hardworking lawbreakers should be treated humanely, but should be treated as lawbreakers. The uncheck of illegal immigration is an ongoing failure of our Government in its most basic, urgent charge. If illegal workers can enter this country, so can terrorists.
Supreme Court
It is the final check on our Constitution. It is charged with strict interpretation of our founding laws in reviews of decisions made by States and lower courts. It must not and should not set moral or policy precedence.
Abortion
First, Abortion is a State issue, not a Federal one, so not Constitutional Amendment required… Morally, it is murder and should be made illegal by every state in the Union.
Gun Control
Laws on Gun Control are unconstitutional. In almost every instance of government restriction on gun ownership harm to personal liberties and safety have resulted. The rise of Nazi Germany to higher crime rates in London, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. are prime examples. Laws regarding crimes with guns are the way to go and should be strictly enforced.
