July 4, 2008 marks the 232nd anniversary of the ratification and initial signing of the Declaration of Independence, a document that defined for an oppressive tyrannical government the right of self-government of the American people.
The brave men and women that sacrificed all to this calling are our forbearers. They were servants of the almighty that forged a great nation under the most challenging of circumstances. They fought not a revolution, but a war of independence that aimed to set forth, once and for all, a nation where the best and worst of man can truly be achieved. Their actions were God directed, their results were God determined.
The America of today looks much different than the colonial environment of the 1770’s. I do not speak of the wagons, the muddy streets, the candle-lit rooms… I speak of a stark difference in the populace of today versus the libertarians of that day… Today, America is infested with a group of people who throw away our liberty on a daily basis… They are “victims” that are perpetually wronged by society. They must have their livelihood and their existence in some way subsidized by the government. This is not liberty that they live… it is socialistic entropy.
The American citizenry has no concept of what liberty is… The think it the ability to buy video games, eat McDonalds Hamburgers, and drink heavily on the 4th of July. They further think it means the right to low gas prices, to welfare, and basically to anything their heart desires…
This is not Liberty. Liberty is the complete freedom to self-determine your destiny. It is the right to worship God, to make what success you can derive, to fail, to succeed, to love, to hate, to socialize, to retract… It is the basic right of your existence to do whatever you wish within the limits of the law. That is freedom, that is liberty.
Liberty means that the hungry might be hungry. Liberty means that the sick might be sick. The world is not a nice place where everyone takes care of everyone. One can give up Liberty in place of protection. One can give up freedom for government assurances. One can placat their believes to conform to society. That one is not free, they are slave. Freedom is the God given right to make of your life what is humanly and divenly possible. A free person does not expect welfare. A free person does not expect a President to wipe their butt and provide them food, shelter, clothing, and healthcare.
Our forebarers gave the last, best measure of themselves to the idea that men are free… That they are given by God, the right to live and die as they determine. Pray not for the success of welfare, pray for the success of freedom and human dignity. Never forget the words of John Adams… “Liberty must at all hazards be supported. We have a right to it, derived from our Maker. But if we had not, our fathers have earned and bought it for us, at the expense of their ease, their estates, their pleasure, and their blood.”
Let’s us never forget the words of our sacred document of freedom…
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security.
Hear my prayer oh God…. Thank you my heavenly father for the gift of freedom. Thank you for the United States of America and the light of freedom it is in this world. Thank you almighty God for freedom. Thank you for the ability to be charitable and to help our common man… Thank you for salvation and free will.
