The Need for Strong Conservative Leadership

This is a difficult time for principled conservative Americans. We live in the aftermath of weak-kneed moderate Americans throwing the country under the bus by electing LibDems to power… Despite what the LibDems think, the election was not a moratorium on the Reconstruction of Iraq.. It was a failing grade on the piece of crap Republican lead Congress.

We have risen to the challenges of the age… When the Amnesty Bill was being shoved down our throats by American hating politicians, we stood up and defended our freedoms and our country. We have also barraged our worthless representatives with calls that have kept our efforts in the War of Terrorism on track.

We have accomplished this despite the absolute lack of elected Conservative Leadership. I do believe the Mitch McConnell has made attempts to provide leadership, although I think he has also ridden the political trolley when it was “necessary”. We have also accomplished this with a President who at his best is stalwart on the War on Terrorism (thank God!), but at his worst let Ted Kennedy write the Education Bill and denigrates Americans for their stance against Amnesty.

The evils of Liberalism are cloaked in good intentions and compassionate slogans. We are told that a compassionate nation ignores its laws and gives benefits to lawbreakers. We are told that a compassionate nation protects its military from harm while allowing a country in the infancy of democracy to implode. We are told that a compassionate nation provides for all the needs of its citizenry, destroying the need for individuals to prosper and rise above their prescribed situation. We are told that a compassionate nation placates to radical religious themed murders because it is ultimately our fault. We are told that a compassionate nation teaches the sanctity of Islam in our schools while outlawing prayer and the mention of God. We are told that a compassionate nation murders babies because it is only right that a woman choose, while we house murders and child molesters because of the sanctity of life..

I say that a compassionate nation is one that respects the religious rights of everyone.. It is one that uses its power to promote freedom and democracy across the world. It protects its citizenry through the guarantee of life, opportunity, and freedom. I pray for elected and non-elected Conservative leadership to emerge… Our country needs prominent thinkers, politicians, and citizens that stand for our traditions, laws, and ideals… Our survival depends on it…

Alex’s Independence Day

Alexander. Alex. AlexBoBalex. Squirtus Maximus. Licking Long Wiskers. AB. Squirt. BabyBoy. These were all names that our boy went by over the years that we’ve known him.
Alex, our beloved cat, passed away this morning. He was eighteen years old. Alex began his adventure with us when he was about six months old. He came into Rhonda’s life thanks to a dog and a tree.. Sarge, the family dog, treed him and Rhonda rescued him with a ladder and a bowl of milk. Unfortunately for me this was about three years before I meet Rhonda. God blessed me in 1994 with the introduction of both into my life.Alex was a Godsend to Rhonda. She was starting a new chapter in her life and he was her constant companion. He made the big move to Lexington and UK with her and was the ideal roommate. When I came along Alex okayed me instantly. He took to my big hands and big lap. He was a critical test I had to pass to be a part of Rhonda’s life.

Alex made trips to Florida with us… He loved the sun and the lizards. He hated the car rides. When we left him behind he let us know how mad he was when we returned. He had impeccable timing.. He’d get in your lap or bump your arm or leg just when you needed it.

Over the last couple of years he battled hyperthyroidism. He took his medicine with grace and ate the hundreds of bowls of food we feed him. He endured innumerable vet visits and survived much longer than anticipated. A few weeks ago his eating began to trail off. We chalked it up to problems with his thyroid and scheduled a vet appointment. We learned that his kidneys were failing and that the outlook was grim. A week ago we discovered a tumor and indications that cancer had spread to his liver. We tried fluids and medicine, which worked for awhile..

Yesterday was a bad day. Alex wasn’t Alex anymore. He was lifeless and was having trouble. We kept a constant vigil, Rhonda even sleeping on a mattress below the loveseat where Alex hung out the last few months of his life. Around 6am the Lord interceded and took him home. He is now free from hurt and disease… I believe he is with our Lord and family that have gone on….. He has his earthly independence

He was the best looking cat I’ve ever known. He was sweet and personable. I’ve often said that he had more personality than most people I know. As Rush often says in talking about his cat.. “Dogs have masters, Cats have staff”. We are the proud parents and staff of Alex. Life will never be the same. Days will be filled with bittersweet reminders… And we will be forever blessed that he was in our lives. Thank you Alex, we love you.
