The Power of the American People

Yesterday, America won. The Amnesty Bill went down to a flaming defeat. Reports say that the Congressional phone system shut down yesterday due to the number of phone calls from the American people. Our sovereignty was defended, our laws were respected.

There are people in his country that actually understand our law and our founding. Politicians in Congress think we are all Maury-watching, fast-food eating, welfare hopefuls that don’t pay attention to the lofty activity that goes on in Washington. They believe we lack the ability to understand the issues and that they are there to do what’s best for us… WRONG!! They forget that they are there as our representatives. They are there to conduct the business of the government on our behalf.

Most disappointing in this whole episode was the President. His support of this bill, coupled with its defeat may be the end of any influence he can have through the rest of term. I once said that George W. Bush would go down as one of our great Presidents. I still believe that tax-cuts and the War on Terror may overshadow the hate filled attacks of the left. His presidency may still be considered one of the better… Unfortunately, Amnesty will be a blot on his record.

Ted Kennedy says we can’t articulate what we are for… Lindsey Graham says we will never get this chance again… Queen Bee Pelosi says the hate-filled rhetoric of talk radio lead to this defeat and that it must be addressed. These people are dangerous. They are calling the American people a bunch of ignorant, racist, mindless souls who follow the Conservative cheerleaders on radio. They can’t deal with the fact that we are informed and understand what is best for us and the country.

The next fight we have is protecting the first amendment. The next war that the Left and their Republican lapdogs will engage in is against talk radio. Their sound bytes are littered with references to it. They will try to reenact the fairness doctrine in order to kill conservative programs. The fairness doctrine will require that radio stations give equal time to both sides of an issue. This means that three hours of Rush will have to be countered with three hours of some LibDem. The Left has proven they can’t operate a successful liberal talk radio program. If radio stations are forced to put them on they will lose money. Radio stations will then be forced to change formats to survive, killing talk radio.

Most of us that listen to Rush, Hannity, Glenn Beck, etc. do not listen for our marching orders each day. We listen because these guys are saying what we are thinking! We are tired of the Drive-by media. We want to hear the news from the correct point of view!!! The LibDems and LibRepublicans don’t want the populace to hear the correct reporting of the news. They want us dumb, fat, and ignorant so they can stay in power and run the country. If they thought Amnesty was a hot issue… just try and kill our news sources… just try.

My Core Beliefs

Last week at church something our Pastor said sent me into a flurry of note writing on the back of a church bulletin. Many of the beliefs that I hold dear, but struggle to put into words, became crystal clear. Here’s what I jotted down…

God is the one and only. God has always been and will always be. He sent his son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to be born of a virgin, to live on earth in physical form, to die on a Roman Cross as a lamb sacrifice for the sins of all mankind, and to rise from the grave and take his place at the right hand of his father. His death, burial, and resurrection pay the sin-debt that man amasses. It allows those who believe to be saved for eternal damnation and to spend eternity in heaven.

All things, Earth, the Heavens and everything in them, were created by God. He has absolute control over the life, death, and evolution of everything. He created man and gave him the ability to survive, progress, and succeed. Man is only what God has given the ability to be… For example, Rush is often criticized for saying.. “Talent on loan from God”. People think he is saying that he is God-like. He is actually acknowledging that he is only what God has allowed him to be… That everything he is results from the talent, intelligence, and environment that God gave him.

The Bible is the holy word of God. It has been preserved as God intended throughout the ages. It, like the Constitution, is not a living, breathing document. It is to be interpreted strictly as the meaning that God imparted to the scribes who dictated it.

America was given to the world by God. Its founding was divinely inspired and directed from on-high. It is built on the ideas of liberty, freedom, and self-determination. Citizenry in America guarantees man the God given rights to worship God, use his or her abilities to provide for family, and be charitable. Individuals can also reject God, live off others, and fail. We have free will and choice in how we live our lives. In America man can be the best and worst of his or her potential.

The American Society is corrupted by Hollywood and the Drive-By media. Recently a television station received criticism and viewer complaint when it broke away from coverage of Paris Hilton’s ride to the court house to cover the retirement of Armed Services Chair Gen. Pace. We actually live in a world where the retirement of the highest ranking military officer of our nation, in a time of war, is expected to be a crawler during coverage of a do-nothing celebrity. The Drive-By media spends the majority of its time telling us everything bad that is happening it the world. They tell us nothing of American successes in our fight to defeat threats to our existence or of human triumph here at home.

It is to us that have been blessed to live in freedom to worship God and believe in the salvation that has been provided, to choose to embrace the opportunities that freedom allows, and represent these values in our everyday lives. I lift up my humble praises to my Heavenly Father and hope that I always avail myself of what he has given me…

My Dad

I am truly blessed by God to be the son of Rick Thompson. Much of what I am today came about through the life lessons that he taught me… He taught me hard work coupled with the absolute necessity of making time for family and home. He disciplined me in a way that both corrected me and also showed me he loved me. Through his faith in God I learned what living a life dedicated to Jesus means and the true power of genuine prayer.Dad taught me to be serious when needed and playful when it wasn’t… He taught me to be a gentleman in my heart, not just in my actions. He demonstrated what it means to be a good husband, a lesson I hope Rhonda believes I learned! He inspired my love of Country and understanding of its importance. I also learned my love of UK Basketball, my interest in sports, and my attachment to my computer.

He is always there when I need advice or have news to share. He is the rock of our family and means home to me… I hope that I live the lessons he has taught me and I hope I make him proud.

Happy Fathers Day Dad, I Love You.
