In my brain over the past week

Here are a few minor ramblings that have been rattling around in my brain the last week or so….

Number One: The Dixie Chicks, Hollywood’s favorite Country Group.

Number Two: SocioHilliary, my name for the former Co-President, recently told a group that the huge profits enjoyed by the Oil Companies should be taken and put into a special fund for the exploration of alternate energy sources…. Is she and Hugo Chavez engaged? And if so, what do you get Honeymooners bent on world socialism?

Number Three: I recently attended an event where a speaker made a most absurd comment…. I will paraphrase … “9/11 was bad, don’t get me wrong…. But Katrina was worse for America… It exposed a deep gap in America… It exposed our vulnerabilities and deficits…”

No offense to the learned speaker but 9/11 was a violent and brutal attack on our homeland by forces intent on our destruction. Katrina was a force of nature that had no malice intent. Folks with this view use Katrina as political fodder to help promote their view of the world. I spent the better part of three months helping staff a donation drop-off site for Katrina relief. This site was located in beautiful Lexington, KY…. far from the conspirator’s blown up levies. Katrina was horrible… But it showed the amazing ability of Americans to come together and help their fellow citizen. When America faces challenges, whether they are instigated by man or nature, it rises to meet them.

How sad it is that there are folks who see freedom of speech as okay unless it is directed at them… How said it is that people can seek power but wish to subjugate the success of others…. How said it is that the view of some is misery, while others see opportunity, success, and triumph.

Yes John Edwards there are two Americas… One that I love that glorifies individual success, praises volunteerism of Americans in the cause of freedom or relief, and applauds the profits of companies and exhibits it as something to strive for.

And then there is John Edwards’ America… One in which misery is promoted…. Victims are made and extorted….. Success if vilified and discouraged… And freedom is a word on the campaign trail, not something to fight for…. Shoot some basketball for me John.
