Its a matter of Perspective

The recent spikes in gas prices, coupled with the two-year rise in these prices caused one of my lovable Liberal friends to comment that he needed to send Mr. Bush a letter about the situation. I snickered at this statement to myself. This is typical liberal explanation for a problem. The price of gas goes up, it’s the Republican President’s fault. If the price of gas goes up with a LibDem President, well then it’s the Republican Congress and Corporations fault.

In this we find one of the major, inherent differences in ideology. LibDems believe that government controls or should control all. It is from this premise that they view what’s good and bad in the world. So many times I’ve heard a LibDem cry that kids aren’t being educated properly or people can’t survive on the cuts that a Republican President or Congress has made. The truth of the matter is that the people have made this decision by electing these men and women to represent them in matters that the government can influence. The people of this country are saying that they expect the government to take care of what it should and that their fellow citizens should take care of their responsibilities. Does this mean that starving, uneducated kids are not our problem? NO! We as a society should help provide for those who can’t provide for themselves. The critical point is that this does not have to be done through the LibDem God, Government. Society has tools that it can use to help those in actual need. Charities, Churches, and Civic groups are all capable of helping those in need, and let’s not forget the act of being neighborly. The big difference between folks like me and the LibDems is that we understand it is the people of this country that make it great, that dictate its actions, and decide its fate. We are not involved in the War on Terrorism because the President wants us to be… We are involved because a majority of the people in this country understands how important it is, that’s why they re-elected the President.

Just for the record, Gas prices are high because demand is insatiable and supply is low. The Iraqi oil production is behind schedule. OPEC has intentionally cut back to make money. Strikes by workers in Nigeria and Venezuela, coupled with damaged pipelines in Venezuela, have caused a drastic drop in supply. In addition, the booming economy here at home and in Asia have caused a demand unlike the world has every seen. Throw in the fact that the LibDems won’t let us drill for oil in our own country, like in parts of remote Alaska where estimates are 30 years of crude exists, and you have a crisis. The only thing Mr. Bush could do to ease oil prices is do what Bubba Clinton was unwilling to, temporarily freeze gas taxes to ease prices, or invade and conquer (not liberate) some Middle Eastern oil rich countries. Or maybe we could take over South America? People, get a grip, understand that the President, Congress, and Judiciary does not control your choice of breakfast cereal, and get on with life!!!!!!!I feel a Howard Dean scream coming on……..

Rational Ranting

I’m irritated, bordering on enraged. There are so many things happening in this country that undermine its very existence. Just this week a number of things have bubbled to the surface that have me aggravated and ready to fight.

First, but in no particular order, is the recess appointment of John Bolton as U.N. ambassador. The LibDems are outraged and faking concern for the country over the President’s very constitutional, very appropriate move. After months of not having representation at the International table of Thugary, The President did his duty and appointed his choice. The LibDems spent months blocking this appointment by not allowing a floor vote on the nominee. In essence, the LibDems have been putting politics ahead of our national interest. They claim national concern as their obstructive motive. They do not, as I can determine, have a reason above “He’s not always nice to the people who work for him” as the reason to deny his appointment. I don’t know about you but I would love to see someone who can be aggressive and raise his or her voice representing me at the U.N. Do you realize that two items before this piece of crap organization are plans to ban gun ownership in all of its member nations and a plan to control the Internet? Who the heck do they think they are? More importantly, who the heck do the LibDems think WE are? They want us to talk nice to a group of anti-Semitic, anti-American terrorists.

The LibDems are not the only ones to complain about in the Bolton mess. Many of the Senate Republicans are as much at fault. Their complete disregard of the people they serve in light of their own interests is disgusting. The Republicans have the majority, they need to throw their weight around and get the job of the people done.

Next is the coming fight over the President’s pick for the Supreme Court. John Roberts seems to be a good man, although I have not done the research on him that others have…. Those individuals seem to think a lot of him… The LibDems talk of the Supreme Court as a place where political philosophy is the determining factor in the decision made. They claim that a “Supreme Courter” needs to be a man or woman that will make mainstream decisions on the issues. They believe that the Supreme Court makes laws. This is bull! The job of the Supreme Court is to interpret the Constitution. They are to take cases presented to them and decide the legality based on the founding document. They must refer state matters to the state. Their job is not to make up stuff in the absence of the written law. The writing of laws is to the Congress. John Roberts, the President’s nominee, stated in a memo concerning a suggestion of a legislator that the Executive and Legislative branches meet to iron out their areas of responsibilities that “a meeting had already been held on the matter, It happened in 1787, the Legislator might want to read the report [ The Constitution] that come from the meeting”. I guess we know what kind of man the President has picked, the very kind the LibDems don’t want!

Third is the recent criticism of the President over his exercise regime. Only the LibDems could criticize policy from a man’s physical condition and exercise regime! President Bush is being called the most fit President in our history. He exercises six times a week! The LibDems claim that the President may be fit, but his policies are neglecting the obese kids in our country. They claim that cuts to education spending have caused the reduction in physical fitness activities in schools. Apparently these cuts have made child obesity worse…. Everyone finished laughing? Problem number one with this argument… The President is setting a spectacular example to kids and adults alike in this country. We are overweight and we need to get off our lazy butts and exercise. (I’m mainly speaking to myself here). He is doing what a President should do, Lead by example. Problem number two… It is not the school’s (a.k.a. the Government) job to take care of your child’s physical fitness. It is the job of the parent to provide care for health and development of the child. A problem with this society and the LibDems is that to many believe that the Government should take care of your needs. It is your responsibility to take care your needs, your children, your home, etc. If you are trying and need help, the good people of this country have no problem helping you. People do not deserve handouts without effort, save those who are physically, emotionally, or developmentally able to give the effort! I say run Mr. President, Run!

More ranting to come… Stay tuned!
