Early in 2001, I remarked to my beautiful wife that George W. Bush would end his second term in a similar light as one of our great Presidents, Ronald Wilson Reagan. I certainly did not mean that Bush 43 would have an Iran-Contra. My statement was meant to describe the regard and mystique that Americans will hold our 43rd President. Here in the early days of his second term, I stand firm on my theory. President George W. Bush will go down in history as one of our greatest presidents. I will now refer to our FOUR greatest Presidents, adding Mr. Bush to my short list of Washington, Lincoln, and Reagan. For those of us in this country that love it, I mean truly love this country, its founding ideals, its history, and its foundation of Liberty and Freedom, President George W. Bush is the right man, at the right time, for the job of Chief Executive.
I truly believe that those on the wrong side of most issues, the LibDems, the old media, the moderates, and the ignorant, are the sad side of our great nation. I would fight for their right to be that sad, wrong side, but I do have the right to be offended and saddened by their state. The wrong side sees America as the force of evil in this world; I see it as the greatest force for freedom that has ever existed. The wrong side sees America as a land of welfare and group responsibility, I see it as the Land of Individual Opportunity. The wrong side sees America as an occupier; I see it as a Liberator. The wrong side sees an opportunity to tear down the opposing side and forgets about 9/11. I see America as the leader of a band of great nations that have said, “Enough is enough, we are not laying down to terrorism!” The wrong side sees a country to be embarrassed about, apologize and make excuses for, and generally hide their face at the International table. I see a country that leads the world and should stand tall because of it. I see a country that leads the world, not by force, but by example. I see a young country that is an example to all countries of what can happen if you are ruled by the people, not the ruler of people.
Thank God that we have a President who shares these beliefs. We have a President who understands what America was, is, and can be… Aren’t you glad the man who represented the wrong side wasn’t sworn in on January 20th?
Remember the final words of President Bush’s inaugural address:
We go forward with complete confidence in the eventual triumph of freedom. Not because history runs on the wheels of inevitability; it is human choices that move events. Not because we consider ourselves a chosen nation; God moves and chooses as He wills. We have confidence because freedom is the permanent hope of mankind, the hunger in dark places, the longing of the soul. When our Founders declared a new order of the ages; when soldiers died in wave upon wave for a union based on liberty; when citizens marched in peaceful outrage under the banner “Freedom Now” – they were acting on an ancient hope that is meant to be fulfilled. History has an ebb and flow of justice, but history also has a visible direction, set by liberty and the Author of Liberty.
When the Declaration of Independence was first read in public and the Liberty Bell was sounded in celebration, a witness said, “It rang as if it meant something.” In our time it means something still. America, in this young century, proclaims liberty throughout all the world, and to all the inhabitants thereof. Renewed in our strength – tested, but not weary – we are ready for the greatest achievements in the history of freedom.
God Bless America, its people, and our President
